PORT WASHINGTON'S HISTORIC Main Street School has been restored and renovated. In the Fall of 1995 it opened its doors as the "Landmark on Main Street, "a Community Center for all of Port Washington and a new home for senior citizens.

LANDMARK ON MAIN STREET is the realization of a community dream. For more than11 years the people of Port Washington have worked together to preserve a fine old building and its spacious grounds in order to build a better future. Thanks to their Spirit of community and with the help of government, an important piece of Port's past has become a permanent part of community life.

LOCATED IN THE HEART OF Port Washington, Landmark's facilities have attracted organizations which meet a wide range of community needs and represent every generation of citizenry. Each group shares Landmark's dedication to becoming part of a community which celebrates its diversity and encourages the development of creative, recreational, and volunteer opportunities for its people.
